WCS: sickle-cell anemia limited playing time

Willie Cauley-Stein said he has the sickle-cell anemia trait, which can affect his endurance. He cited that as a reason he played 25 minutes against Boise State Tuesday night.

“My chest starts to hurt. . . .,” he said. “Some days,  just randomly, I’ve had real bad chest pain. I can’t, like breathe and my heart rate won’t come (down). I have to stop and wait for it to come down.”

WCS said he does not take medication nor receive treatment for the sickle-cell anemia trait.
