Coaches give UK fans an assist in victory over Cleveland State

Both coaches credited the fans in Rupp Arena for helping Kentucky beat Cleveland State 68-61 Monday night.

UK rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final 7:09.

“I think that’s what you get when you are at home,” Cleveland State Coach Gary Waters said. “Your fans help you through this thing.

“They have great fans and they helped lift them up when they were down.”

UK Coach John Calipari called how fans applauded Cleveland State when the game ended as a “classy, classy move.”

Added Calipari: “They never cease to amaze me, our fans. Yeah, they’re into basketball. Yeah, they’re watching the tape three times (and) all that other stuff. But they’re classy about what they do.”
