With 3.9 seconds to go and Kentucky clinging to a 71-70 lead, LSU called time.
It appeared UK came out of the huddle with six players on the court.
After the referees huddled (and assistant coach John Robic hustled Nerlens Noel to the bench), it was decided there was no infraction.
Gerald Boudreaux, the SEC Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officials, issued a statement.
“The officiating crew ruled that when the ball was handed to the player for the throw-in, five players were on the court for each team,” Boudreaux said.
Boudreaux said he would personally review the play and “make sure that this will not happen again.”
