Freshman Willie Cauley-Stein did not make the trip for the Auburn game Saturday night, Kentucky Coach John Calipari tweeted Saturday afternoon.
On Thursday, Cauley-Stein underwent what UK described as a “minor procedure” on his left knee.
On Friday,. Calipari said that Cauley-Stein was expected to be sidelined briefly. The UK coach left open the possibility that Cauley-Stein might play at Auburn.
“Willie stayed home so he could get a double dose of treatment so we can get him back sooner,” Calipari tweeted Saturday.
Cauley-Stein, a 7-footer from Olathe, Kan., has played his way into Kentucky’s starting lineup. He formed a Twin Towers effect with fellow freshman Nerlens Noel.
From all indications, Cauley-Stein is expected to return to the UK team in a matter of days.
