About 75 to 100 students gathered at Reed Arena to welcome home the Texas A&M team after the 83-71 victory at Kentucky Saturday, spokesman Adam Quisenberry said.
The victory at Kentucky came in A&M’s first road game as a member of the Southeastern Conference.
The victory improved A&M to 2-0 in the SEC. The Aggies began league play with a difficult three-game set: Home to Arkansas, at Kentucky and now back home to play Florida.
According to the Ratings Percentage Index compiled by Jerry Palm for CBSSports.com, A&M will face three of the league’s top eight RPI teams to begin the SEC race. Arkansas has the eighth-best RPI, UK the fourth best and Florida the best.
By contrast, Kentucky is opening with games against the 10th-best RPI team (Vanderbilt), fifth best (A&M) and ninth best (Tennessee).
