In assessing the challenge of playing at Notre Dame Thursday, Kentucky Coach John Calipari noted;
– the atmosphere. Notre Dame is staging a “blackout” in which fans will wear black. It will be the first game on an opponent’s court for this latest freshman-oriented UK team.
When asked if the Maryland game in the Barclays Center helped prepare UK for a road game, Calipari said, “It wasn’t the same. (The Terps) probably had 60 percent (of the crowd, while UK had 40 percent).”
At Notre Dame?
“We have 40 people,” he said. “. . . This will be a new experience.”
– Three-point shooting. Notre Dame made a season-high 12 three-pointers (in 22 attempts) in beating Chicago State Monday.
“If they do that (Thursday), we’ll be coming back with a ‘L,’” Calipari said.
– The Irish figure to play some zone against UK. On Tuesday, Notre Dame Coach Mike Brey emphasized the need to keep a body on UK’s big men.
Lobs to the basket are UK’s post feeds, Brey said.
