On Tuesday, Kentucky Coach John Calipari downplayed the derogatory comments made about UK players the day before by Morehead State Coach Sean Woods.
“Knowing Sean, I figured he misspoke, and (I) chalk it up to that,” Calipari said.
On Monday, Woods questioned how much players appreciate playing for Kentucky. He also noted a “sense of entitlement” among the players. Woods said he did not like the “vibe” he got from UK players during a telethon to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy earlier this fall.
Calipari defended the UK players.
“I love what our kids are about,” he said. “What they’ve done academically.”
Calipari also noted the players’ involvement in charity efforts like the hurricane relief telethon.
