Morehead State Coach Sean Woods promised Monday that his team will give Kentucky a physical test on Wednesday.
Woods, who played for UK in the early 1990s, likened the style he prefers to the one led by Rick Pitino in that time period. UK players denied entry passes and played what Pitino described as “mother-in-law defense.” That meant “constant harassment,” Pitino said.
How will UK’s freshman-dependent team handle such pressure defense?
“I haven’t seen them be pressured yet,” Woods said. “We’re going to see how they handle ours.”
Woods conceded that UK had taller players than Morehead State. “But I don’t think they’re wider and stronger,” he said.
Morehead State, 3-1, plays Kentucky Wednesday night.
“We have some older guys,” Woods said. “… We’re going to throw everything but the kitchen sink at them. If they’re the team everybody thinks they are, they’ll win.”
