UK Coach John Calipari said Sunday that he has ratcheted up intensity in practices.
“We have to set a tone on how we play,” he said. “We have guys you see start backing up.”
So UK has more drills in which the losing team runs sprints.
“This is what happens to losers,” Calipari said of the objective. “To really improve, you have to make yourself uncomfortable. … If you’re not willing to do that, I will. I’ll do it.”
A moment later, Calipari said, “I never leave practice where I’m ticked off by myself. Everybody in the building will be ticked off. If I’m mad, they’re all mad.”
