In speaking to the Tip-Off Luncheon Wednesday, UK Coach John Calipari described his job in terms that extend beyond X-and-O considerations.
“I’m not sure I’m in the business of basketball,” he told a crowd of about 850. “It ends up, I’m in the business of helping families.”
As UK coach, Calipari said he could end “generational poverty,” presumably meaning for players. But also, perhaps, for fans through such projects as tornado relief for West Liberty and the coach’s financial literacy program.
