The UK Athletics Committee approved more than $9 million in upgrades planned for the softball and soccer complexes.
The upgrades include a $7 million renovation and expansion of UK”s soccer facilities and an additional $2.2 million for improvements to the softball facility.
UK will play host to the SEC Softball Tournament next spring.
The additional money will come from reserve funds raised through private donations, Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart said.
The additional funding is expected to be formally approved later Tuesday by the Trustees’ Finance Committee and then by the full Board of Trustees.
