While UK fans might be growing impatient waiting for a decision from the NCAA on Enes Kanter’s eligibility, Kentucky Coach John Calipari noted one possible reason for a deliberate process.
The NCAA will set a precedent for future players on foreign teams with this decision, the UK coach said.
“I want the NCAA to get it right,” Calipari said. “It’s not going to just affect this kid. It’s any good player that wants to come over.”
Kanter played three seasons with a professional team in his native Turkey. He and his family reportedly received more than $100,000 in compensation.
“The NCAA is not working against us or this young man,” Calipari said. “This is a hard decision.”
