Auburn quarterback Cam Newton’s all-around talent had the school’s new basketball coach, John Calipari disciple Tony Barbee, daydreaming about a move to basketball after the football season.
“He might be bigger than anybody I have on my team,” Barbee said Thursday at the SEC Media Day for basketball.
When asked if he’d seen Newton play basketball, Barbee said, “I don’t need to. As faste as he is and as athletic as he is, I’ll find a way to use him.”
Barbee was speaking light-heartenly, and seemingly not suggesting that he’d try to get Newton in an Auburn basketball uniform.
