Perennial All-Star Jason Kidd sees a “bright future” for former Kentucky point guard John Wall in the NBA.
UK fans may recall that before his team played Kentucky last season, North Carolina Coach Roy Williams called Wall the best point guard prospect to come into college basketball since Kidd.
Speaking on a teleconference Monday promoting a charity golf tournament (American Century Championship, July 16-18, in Lake Tahoe), Kidd said Wall’s understanding of the game at such a young age caught his eye.
“He’s a talent,” Kidd said of Wall. “A lot of these guys can play above the rim now. He has the athletic ability. He can set up open guys. He can score. So I think the future is very bright. . . . He will shine at the next level as long as he keeps working hard.”

Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald- Leader has covered Kentucky basketball since the 1981-82 season. That time includes five coaches, five Final Fours, four athletic directors, two interim athletic directors and many memories. Before coming to Lexington, Tipton worked eight years for the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch. He covered Marshall’s basketball team for two seasons before coming to the Herald-Leader.

insert as 3d paragraph:
“Wall helped UK to a 35-3 mark last season. But with teammate Eric Bledsoe’s academic eligibility and amateur status still in question, he may eventually have only one official game to show for his college career.”
Any other suggestions for the paragraph Jerry forgot to include?
