Kentucky Coach John Calipari lost to Notre Dame Coach Mike Brey in a charity cook-off on Saturday in Indianapolis.
UK fans showed up in big numbers to cheer Cal.
Spokesperson Eileen Earley said that there were about 200 people in the audience for the cook-off. “Of which 75 percent were UK fans. Huge turnout.”
There will be another cook-off Sunday afternoon between Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech and Tom Crean of Indiana.
Proceeds go to Coaches vs. Cancer charity.
Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald- Leader has covered Kentucky basketball since the 1981-82 season. That time includes five coaches, five Final Fours, four athletic directors, two interim athletic directors and many memories. Before coming to Lexington, Tipton worked eight years for the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch. He covered Marshall’s basketball team for two seasons before coming to the Herald-Leader.
