Jurich plans to issue statement Wednesday afternoon

Louisville Athletic Director Tom Jurich plans to issue a statement Wednesday afternoon on Rick Pitino’s viability as basketball coach, U of L spokesman Kenny Klein said.

Questions arose about Pitino’s job status in the wake of his acknowledgement of having sex outside of marriage and then paying for an abortion. The Courier-Journal reported on statements made to police about the incident.

Jurich offered a statement of support for Pitino on Tuesday.
