Bledsoe: Patterson will return to UK

The newest Kentucky player, point guard signee Eric Bledsoe, said he would be playing with Patrick Patterson next season.

When asked about Patterson and Jodie Meeks, holdover UK players who are testing their NBA draft status this spring, Bledsoe said, “Pat’s coming back. But I haven’t talked to Meeks much.”

Does Bledsoe know something?

Hard to say for sure. He visited UK last weekend. Presumably, he could have spoken with Patterson.

Even if Patterson said he was coming back to Kentucky next season, there’s reason to wonder. Maybe Patterson was part of the recruiting pitch. Wouldn’t any point guard prospect like the idea of having an all-SEC big man to feed the ball? After all, John Lucas promoted that idea when he was selling the idea of his point guard-playing son, Jai, forming a tandem with Patterson.

Then again, Patterson was not a key factor in Bledsoe signing with Kentucky, Bledsoe seemed to say.

Bledsoe spoke of new UK Coach John Calipari as the key factor.

“If Cal had stayed at Memphis, I would have signed with Florida,” Bledsoe said.

Hmmmm…

PP comes back. He needs to develop his game more and he wants his education.

This keeps getting better. Hopefully, Meeks and Patterson return. If Wall also signs, it will make an outstanding team even better. GO CATS!!!

Jerry, me thinks you’re reading too much into this. It appears he wanted to play in the SEC, but liked Pastner and Cal. When Cal went to UK and actually started recruiting him (showed him that he actually wanted him), that was the clincher.

Patterson, has been pre-ranked in the draft as high as 12, and as low as 26th, All depends on which website you read. and meeks wasn\’t even in the 1st round.
SO, If Patterson, truly has an eye for the nba, Think back about a man named MORRIS. IN NO way was he even remotely ready for the nba when he (1st) left, not much better the 2nd time around, but still, Even with another year of prepaid hoops, He did manage to get on a pro team. So if Patterson wants a better draft potential, He really needs to play one more year, Meeks, needs to have another year like last year, to establish himslef as legitimate.
With the likes of
Patterson, Meeks-cousins-orton-bledsoe-dodson, hood
and with harris, and miller stevenson, galloway, Among others, Good grief, I\’d like to see them play the celtics.. lol
Can\’t wait to see how things go!

You left out the part where Bledsoe mentioned “I want to play in the SEC”. He did great at Memphis, but Coach C dressed in a UK polo is going to be a tough combination on the recruiting trail.
Congratualtions to Mr. Bledsoe and to Coach Calipari.
Looking forward to watching him as wildcat. Getting excited about basketball again. GO CATS!

If Patterson comes back for 1 more year, he will be a lottery pick. If Meeks come back for his final year, he will be a definite 1st rounder. Also, with them we are a legitimate national contender.

Jerry is being generous in his translation of what Bledsoe said at that press conference. Have you seen the video? This kid can hardly put 2 syllables together! What he really said is “Pad comin bat. I hadden tall to Mee mut.” But he can hoop!

As long as he’s able to penetrate and dish the ball I could care less if he can’t put 2 syllables together, this is Kentucky not Yale. I attended Kentucky back in the 80′s and now living in Tennessee … trust me, he’ll fit right in. I’ve not been able to understand people south of the Ohio river in over 20 years!
