Why shouldn’t Wall take time on big decision?

Judging by e-mail and responses to blog postings, some Kentucky fans are growing impatient with mega point guard prospect John Wall.

The fans want an immediate decision. Unless, of course, taking more time with ensure that Wall picks Kentucky.

For Wall, the recruiting process grows more complicated as it unfolds. He surprised the recruiting world by saying Thursday that he would visit North Carolina Central on Friday.

But Wall has several good reasons to take his time and, if he’d like, visit N.C. Central.

N.C. Central named a new coach, Levelle Moton, this spring. Moton has coached Wall for years in rec leagues in the Raleigh, N.C., area.

Wall would be doing his friend a favor by visiting N.C. Central. What other new coach in his first college head coaching job can say he’s got the nation’s top prospect visiting?

Moton, who runs a summer camp that attracts NBA players, has been John’s friend for years.

Since his recruitment got off to a late start, it only stands to reason that Wall’s recruitment will run deep into the spring. He shut down his recruitment last fall after his mother was hospitalized and didn’t pick it back up until after her surgery this spring.

Further disruptions came when the top school on his list, Memphis, changed coaches. Of course, John Calipari left Memphis for Kentucky.

Other schools — notably Florida — happily filled that vacuum with new offers to consider.

So is it any wonder that Wall needs time to sift through his options?
He is not on anybody else’s timetable. Looking from his standpoint, it is not dragging on

I totally agree! According to most sites, he favor the Cats… So whether he commits now or later, BE PATIENT! This kid could be the missing link needed to hang our 8th banner.

I am one of those uk fans growing impatient, and it is nothing against wall. I understand why he should take his time but im just afraid if we wait too long on him and he ends up signing else where, then we might end up losing bledsoe and then we have nothing. The way i look at it is we definitley need one of the 2 of them. If im not mistaken i Believe thats how pitino lost rondo to uk a few years ago cuz he was waiting on telfair, who ended up going pro and rondo came to uk and UL ended up with neither one.

Good things come to those who wait. But a Bledsoe signed is better than a Wall maybe.

I completely agree, Jerry. Wall certainly deserves to take all the time he needs to make the best choice for himself and his family. No one should fault him for that.

are you fricking kidding me though, He keeps lieing. He keeps saying he will trim his list down by friday and keeps postponing it. He is a habitual lier and needs to stop. If he wants to take his time and visit some wortheless division 2 school then fine i really dont mind that, what i mind is that he keeps lieing to the public. He should just say no one ask me when ill be trimming the list or making a decion, or he should just say i dont know when when some one ask about when he will trim his list.

if only jerry tipton were a uk fan…. i mean that would make sense considering he writes about uk sports.

I think online forums are great because they allow a wide variety of people to speak their minds, including in this case a few malcontents who aren’t very thoughtful and have too much time on their hands. It’s unfortunate that journalists such as Jerry choose to cherrypick these sites for fringe posts that they can translate into hype. No wonder traditional media personalities are being relieved of their megaphones at an ever increasing pace.

I totall disagree with Jerry. He is an eighteen year old kid who is not that deep a thinker. Right now he is being a prima donna. He is basking in the limelight but the act is getting old. No one needs that much time. Make a decision kid!!

i have read many of your articles in the past and frankly we differ our opinions most of the time. however, this time you nailed it right on the head. People need to realize that even though he will only play one year of college ball it is still one year of commitment in this guys life. if it takes waiting until the day before classes for this guy to decide on UK then so be it…see ya when ya get here…be patient folks if he doesnt come here we will be fine…if he does watch out…

Ok, who can deny the abstract statement that one should take his time in picking his college. Fine. There is more here that is making fans anxious. Wall announces every few days he will “narrow” his list, and it isn’t to one or two schools. He is only promising to narrow it to 4 or so. Then, he makes a new announcement of a reason to wait, oh, and a new school to add to the list, and “I’ll tell you later.” He is dragging this out for publicity and to see himself in the papers of a bunch of schools. So your statement in the abstract is reasonable, but it is made with blinders on in this specific case.

Ok, your right..he should take his time and is. However, there is one thing to consider..other players and schools. There are players waiting to see what he does before the commit, there are schools recruiting maybe one or two point gaurds just so he doesnt feel as if there overloading the position, and those schools need to know if there getting him, or need to move heavier in a nother direction.

It’s his life he can do whatever he wants.
He’s coveted by every school that plays basketball and
he’s going to make his decision on his time not Jack’s time.

I agree with Jack, but if I were Wall I would like to see my name in the paper as much as possible. Do you think he is planning on playing more than one year for the school he choses? I hope he does if he comes to UK, but with the $$$ thrown at these kids by the NBA I doubt he will be playing college basketball very long.
