Bledsoe to pick either UK or Memphis

Point guard prospect Eric Bledsoe confirmed to the Memphis Commercial Appeal that he will decide between Memphis and Kentucky.

“That’s who I’m deciding between,” he told the newspaper. “I’m going to try to make (a decision) next week.”

Bledsoe, a player from Birmingham, Ala., had noted Florida as the No. 1 school on his list when he played in the Derby Festival Basketball Classic in April.

Now he’s visiting Memphis Friday before making an official visit to Kentucky this weekend.

Bledsoe also has a strong relationship with new Memphis assistant Glynn Cyprien, who was on Billy Gillispie’s staff at Kentucky. Cyprien was the key figure in Bledsoe’s favoring Kentucky before the coaching changes, the Commercial Appeal reported.

The recruiting process has caused Bledsoe to cross paths with mega point guard prospect John Wall several times. Both were recruiting by John Calipari for Memphis. Because he felt like a Plan B, Bledsoe did not rate Memphis high on his options.

Now Bledsoe and Wall are being coveted by Kentucky. Calipari has tried to convince them that they could play together rather than outwardly recruiting Bledsoe as a backup plan, the Commercial Appeal reported.

Good move by Calipari. Why not try to get them both? Wall be be one and done, so Bledsoe would be the #1 guy at UK the following year.

I have a feeling e. b. will sign with ky. I have never felt like j. w. will. Erick, if you read this, personally I would be very happy to have you instead of wall. I like the fact that you can come to a dicision without still having 10 schools involved.

Right. They will play together. That does not sound like CAL. 5 minutes to 35 minutes. What a joke.

When CAL was at Memphis, he did not promise playing time to kids. They had to earn it. I’m a Memphis fan and do not think CAL would promise something like this. He a better coach than that.

Cal wasn’t recruiting Bledsoe at Memphis.

If the man had one shred of dignity he’d bow out of this one and do what’s best for the kid (for once, despite all his proclamations to the contrary). And what’s best for the kid is to steer him somewhere where he will start at the point on an experienced team. Memphis. Of course, Cal has no dignity. He considers his own needs first, last, and in between.
