Former Kentucky signee G.J. Vilarino is making an official visit to Gonzaga this weekend.
Vilarino was the first prospect to commit to UK when Billy Gillispie was coach two years ago. After UK fired Gillispie this spring, Vilarino re-opened his recruitment after speaking with new coach John Calipari.
Vilarino’s parents lived in Spokane, Wash., where Gonzaga is located. His mother attended Gonzaga.
Vilarino also has recruiting visits planned for Oregon and Virginia Commonwealth. He’s also considering Cincinnati and Georgia.

Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald- Leader has covered Kentucky basketball since the 1981-82 season. That time includes five coaches, five Final Fours, four athletic directors, two interim athletic directors and many memories. Before coming to Lexington, Tipton worked eight years for the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch. He covered Marshall’s basketball team for two seasons before coming to the Herald-Leader.

I’d like to see him play at Georgia, but it looks like Gonzaga will be his choice.
