UK taking on Memphis flavor

Kentucky continues to take on a University of Memphis flavoring, which perhaps isn’t a bad thing considering the success the Tigers have enjoyed in recent seasons.

Four hires became apparent when reporters were invited to attend a workout last week. The four (with titles at Memphis in parenthesis) were John Robic (assistant coach), Orlando Antigua (assistant coach), Rod Strickland (Director of Student-Athlete Development/Manager) and Bilal Batley (Assistant Director of Operations/Manager).

We’ve since learned of two more Memphis staffers who will be joining Calipari at UK.

Chris Simmons, the athletic trainer for the Memphis team the past three seasons, will join the Kentucky staff.

So will Lunetha Pryor, an administrative assistant and office coordinator the past 12 seasons.

Simmons, a 2002 Memphis graduate, had worked as head trainer for the Arkansas RimRockers of the NBDL before returning to Memphis in 2006.

Prior to serving as trainer for the NBDL team, Simmons attended the University of Arkansas, where he worked as an graduate assistant trainer while earning a master’s degree in education.

Pryor worked for Memphis for 22 years, the first 11 in the athletic department’s business office and ticket office.

I understand a FedEx truck is leaving Memphis today with everything from the Tigers’ athletic office – including trophies and the kitchen sink. Cal’s even bringing some painters in from Memphis to repaint the ‘M’ logo on the floor of Rupp.

Gee whiz, do we have to bring everything from Memphis – even the secretaries??!!

WOW! Did Cal rape us or what? How can you guys stomach this? Oh well, i guess you can purchase a national title after all. All I can say is: “God Knows!” If the television, Kentucky fans and NCAA folks want say anything, it will be left up to GOD to handle things. THIS is just plain ole wrong.
