High school junior Dominique Ferguson, widely viewed as one of the two best prospects gotten into Kentucky’s fold by former Coach Billy Gillispie, said Thursday that he was “strongly” considering re-opening his recruiting process.
“I like Kentucky’s style,” he said of the way new coach John Calipari approaches basketball. Then Ferguson added, “I’m still strongly thinking of de-committing.”
Ferguson, a top 10 national prospect from Indianapolis, noted how he and Calipari are strangers. Calipari spoke to the prospect Wednesday.
“I just think I need to start things over,” Ferguson said. “I don’t know anything about him (Calipari). He didn’t recruit me when he was at the other school (Memphis).”
Ferguson said his father advises him to consider how many players Calipari has helped get to the NBA. But Ferguson sounded uneasy about not knowing Calipari.
Ferguson said he hoped to decide by the weekend whether to remain committed to Kentucky or re-open the recruiting process.

How come every article the Jerry Tipton writes about UK is negative? All my time of reading the Herald-Leader I dont think I have seen very many positive articles about UK. This kind of gets annoying at times. As many negative things that are going on this the world the least thing you can do is write a good positive article about sports. Thats just my opinion, and I think i have the right to voice it just like you have the right to voice yours. Thanks
ps. You have a very bad name on all the UK message Boards about your negativity.

Kid, you need to listen to your father this time around. Kentucky basketball is a team that will win a number of Championships under Coach Cal. We have 7 banners in the raffters and will get 8 and 9 real soon, if you want to be a part of this then come on down and play for the preimer program in the country. Don\’t be someone who will look back one day and say I counld\’ve been part of that history if I had only stayed.
