Vitale believes Calipari will take UK job

ESPN commentator Dick Vitale said he’s convinced Memphis Coach John Calipari will take the Kentucky job.

“That’s the impression I have,” Vitale said on Tuesday afternoon. “My strong impression is he ultimately is coming (to Kentucky).”

When asked about the delay in making a decision public knowledge, Vitale said Calipari was “just making sure. He wants to feel 100 percent comfortable” with moving from Memphis to Kentucky.

Looks like a done deal to UK, but Memphis News Stations are reporting that FedEX founder Fred Smith has been in contact with Calipari in an effort to entice him to stay… apparently offering him stock options in FedEX as part of a deal to match money-wise what UK is offering him.

HOPE WE GET A NEW COACH SOON. THE WILDCATS WITHOUT A COACH IS LIKE THE VATICAN WITHOUT A POPE.

That’s obviously a fake quote. In the last 5 years, I’ve never heard Dickie V. speak without a reference to the ACC, Duke, or Pitino!

I think Calipari should defiantly come to Kentucky!!! He is a great coach and he has great players!

Calipari will do a great job if he comes. Although I like Gillispie and thought he deserved a couple more years, Calipari would not be a bad choice at all. Calipari is much like Pitino in my opinion, only difference being that Calipari lacks championships and big conference coaching experience. If Patterson and Meeks stay, and 1/2 of the memphis players follow, I could see a team shaping up as one of the best ever at UK, dare I say even better than the 95-96 team that featured delk, anderson, mercer, walker.

COME ON OVER J.C.!

Who cares what Vitale thinks! I know of no one who is less qualified to discuss successful coaching in sports than Dick Vitale. As much as I hate to say it, Bob Knight is the only ESPN guy who has a clue what he’s talking about.

Can’t Knock the Hustle, Calipari is the Man for UK. He’s the best coaching prospect for the position. Calipari is the “Jay-Z of College Basketball Coaches,” now he can come to Lexington and ‘show them what he’s got’.
