Jodie Meeks looked tired in Kentucky’s loss to Georgia on Wednesday night, UK Coach Billy Gillispie said after the game.
Considering that the Cats practiced hard earlier Wednesday, Gillispie was asked how much Meeks’ fatigue gave him pause about practicing on game days.
“None,” Gillispie said.
When asked why not, the UK coach said that Meeks’ fatigue probably came from having to carry the team this season rather than from practices on game day.
The Cats appear to have more hard work ahead. The way to bring more competitive zeal would be the work hard, Gillispie said.
“Keep working,” he said. “Never give up. That’s the only thing I know to do.”

How can a coach get out of a job he dislikes at a first rate program and still save face? Well it looks like Billy Gillispie found the answer…do everything in your power to make sure your team loses and doesn’t make the tourney. I feel bad for the players that it’s now obvious Billy is trying to undermine their season, so he can be forced out. I wish he’d just step up like a man and quit.
