Ashley Judd: Cheering for UK at UNC

UK’s most famous fan, actress Ashley Judd, will be sitting and standing in the North Carolina student section for Tuesday’s game against visiting Kentucky.

She promised to do so during a campaign appearance in North Carolina on behalf of presidential candidate Barack Obama. The deal was: Judd in UNC student section if Obama carries North Carolina. He did. Now she will.

But in an e-mail message, Judd made clear she’ll be rooting for Kentucky. “I will be my usual UK self in their student section,” she wrote. “Becoming a Tar Heel was most adamantly not a part of the deal….just that I’d come stand with them!!!!

A link to the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer mention of Judd can be found on Kentucky.com. It’s part of Lu-Ann Farrar’s regular Kentucky News Review feature in which she checks around the world for Kentucky-related news items.

Here’s the Raleigh newspaper’s item:

Judd to keep promise

UNC-Chapel Hill students will have a famously devoted Wildcats fan sitting in their section when the Tar Heels host Kentucky next week.

On a campaign trip for Obama late last month, actress Ashley Judd promised students she would return to Chapel Hill for the basketball game — and sit in the student section — if Obama won North Carolina.

He did, and Judd’s public relations firm said the star of “High Crimes” and “Kiss the Girls” plans to attend the Tuesday game.

No word on what shade of blue she’ll be wearing.

As far as i’m concerned Ashley can keep her rear end in the Obama,North Carolina or Minnesota section—She has worn out her welcome with me as a Wildcat fan!!!
