UPDATE -
Fans will have an opportunity to see the players in a pickup game Saturday on the outdoor court next to Memorial Coliseum, weather permitting anyway.
…………….
Nothing is official yet. And it may turn out to be a false alarm.
But the word seems to be that UK will open the doors of Memorial Coliseum on Saturday for fans who want to watch the players in pickup games.
Participants should include high school senior Jon Hood, who has committed to the Cats.
The games will begin around 2:30 p.m. Under this format, fans would have time to get to Commonwealth Stadium in time for the 6 p.m. kickoff of the game against Norfolk State.
We stress the tentative nature of the invitation for fans to watch pickup games. If we hear that this is not the case, we’ll return with another blog update.
But as of now (3:45 p.m.), that’s the word.
What can be learned from pickup games? Not as much as fans might wish. But it is a chance to eyeball players. And with so many new faces this season (Josh Harrelson, Kevin Galloway, DeAndre Liggins, Darius Miller, Donald Williams, etc, etc.), it would be a treat.
